1. Medical review
We review your medical history, implanted devices, allergies and kidney function to ensure the CT and any contrast use are safe.
2. Arrival and preparation
You are positioned comfortably on the examination table. In some cases, you may receive an oral contrast agent or water to improve visualization of the digestive tract and enhance image quality.
3. Contrast injection
In patients with impaired kidney function or thyroid disorders, iodine-containing contrast media are used with particular caution or, if necessary, avoided altogether. Please inform us of any known allergies or previous reactions.
4. CT imaging
The X-ray tube rotates around you while the system acquires thin-layer images within seconds. You only need to lie still; the examination is painless.
5. After the exam
You can usually go home immediately. If contrast was used, we recommend drinking water afterwards unless your doctor advises otherwise.
